November is American Diabetes Month
November is American Diabetes Month, a time to communicate the
seriousness of diabetes and the importance of diabetes prevention and
control. Diabetes foot care is one essential area in keeping diabetics
healthy and safe. Don’t wait until you have a foot problem, start
utilizing diabetic socks, compression socks, orthopedic footwear and
regular foot exams in your healthcare efforts.
Diabetic foot care is essential. Many diabetics suffer from neuropathy
or get a cut on the foot that will not heal. Diabetic socks are made
with non-binding tops to maximize circulation and allow a person to wear
the socks all the time comfortably. This will avoid blisters and cuts
on the foot. Even you don’t have problems, utilizing these prescribed
methods will help in prevention of other complications such as varicose
veins, fatigue and edema.
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) reports that nearly 24 million
children and adults in the United States living with diabetes, and an
additional 57 million Americans at risk. One out of every three children
born today will face a future with diabetes if current trends continue!
Diabetes is not merely a condition. It is disease with deadly
consequences. Everyone needs to take an action to stop this epidemic.
A new campaign is launching by the Stop Diabetes movement encouraging
individuals to get involved by sharing, acting, learning and giving. If
you suffer from foot problems caused by diabetes, get involved in the
“Share Your Vision to Stop Diabetes”. Here is how to submit your video:
